3.17 Rethinking supportive school environments

Description

This is a continuing activity for primary and secondary schools that will focus on supporting school to develop safe and supportive school environments in order to build capacity to meet the pastoral care needs of students. It will build a framework that synthesises and complements concepts and principles of the National Safe Schools framework, behaviour management and support, values education, social and emotional learning in order to develop clear links to the curriculum.

The activity engages participants in a series of modules that address the National Safe Schools framework. The activity will be managed by a team of learning officers who will take responsibility for meeting the professional needs of teachers participating in the activity. At this stage of the planning process it is not anticipated that there will be involvement by higher education institutions or professional associations.
