- clusters of schools working in collegial networks
- workplace mentoring and coaching aligned to meeting the NSW Institute of Teachers' professional teaching standards
- flexible learning that includes components such as self-paced and facilitated online learning, face-to-face workshops, video and teleconferences, online mentors, and discussion groups
- local, regional and state workshops and conferences that enable participants to have their work publicly celebrated and critiqued
- partnerships with professional associations and higher education institutions to provide expertise in the development, design and/or implementation of professional development activities.
The activity is a response to the emphasis of the Australian Government and is also closely aligned to addressing recommendations from the review of Catholic Education Office, Sydney. The activity will be supported by the Catholic Education Office, Sydney's Learning framework.
The participants have been central to the design of projects to address issues related to improved pedagogy. Processes of action research, double loop learning and teacher-led development work have ensured the quality in the development of the projects.
Participant reflections on learning from the project and identified issues will inform the second year of the projects. An advisory group will be formed from key practitioners involved in 2006 for peer review and project quality purposes.
