3.10 Pedagogy and school

Description

This is a continuing activity in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn for primary and secondary schools. The activity will continue to focus on supporting school communities in the development of pedagogy and school revitalisation. The focus of the activity is on schools engaging in meaningful and productive examination of learning and teaching and changing practices.

Participation in the activity will provide teachers with opportunities to reflect and refine practice in relation to current pedagogy and/or to develop a school-wide pedagogy. The activity is designed to meet the professional learning needs of teachers by providing professional learning that is informed by current research, practical and relevant, challenging, well planned, sequenced and based on their identified needs.

The activity will be managed by a project officer who will have responsibility for the organisation of program activities and the implementation of activities as required. The project officer, in collaboration with members within Education Services, will design and implement activities and will collaborate, where appropriate, on joint activities.

Involvement in the activity by academics from the University of Southern Queensland (IDEAS) and the University of Newcastle (Quality Teaching) is planned.
