Design
The professional learning strategy for this activity includes:
- classroom-based module implementation to engage teachers in workplace learning that is based on a cycle of continuous improvement model, including elements of the Quality teaching model
- flexible learning that includes self-paced and facilitated online learning, face-to-face workshops, video and teleconferences, online mentors, and discussion groups
- regional workshops that enable participants to meet course organisers and online mentors and to continue their collegial and professional learning dialogue face-to face
- presentation by participants of a course work professional learning portfolio for evaluation and internal certification.
Literacy Online courses have been identified in the NSW State Literacy Plan 2006-2008 as one initiative in the provision of focused professional learning programs. It is an essential strategy in ensuring equitable access for primary and teachers state-wide to literacy professional learning.
Participant feedback from 2007 workshop evaluations will be used to further refine workshop content structure in 2008. Participant feedback regarding 2007 course materials and delivery will be considered as part of ongoing evaluation of the courses.
