Back |
Description
Literacy Online is a suite of projects: Early Literacy Online (ELO) and Literacy Online-Stage 2 (LOL2). ELO supported Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 classroom teachers, and LOL2 supports Stage 2 classroom teachers. Literacy Online connects teachers' professional learning needs to a comprehensive action research change process focussed on improving student learning. This professional learning was delivered in an online environment over a year.
The activity was managed by a designated curriculum officer who took responsibility for the activity meeting the professional needs of participating teachers. An online course mentor provided support for course participants online at orientation teleconferences, throughout all of the coursework modules and at face-to-face course workshops.

* Flexible learning included components such as self-paced and facilitated online learning, face-to-face workshops, video and teleconferences, an online mentor, and online discussion groups about:
- Data collection and analysis
- Literacy planning and teaching for students in the early years
- Meeting the needs of early years students through the implementation of aspects of the NSW State Literacy Plan 2006-2008 and the NSW model of Quality teaching.
* Regional and/or state workshops and conferences that enabled participants to have their work publicly celebrated and critiqued.
