Description

This was a continuing activity from 2008. This activity provided teachers in independent schools opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills for integrating current and new Information Communication Technology hardware and software into their teaching and learning.The activity also included:

  • an opportunity for schools conduct action learning projects to investigate effective pedagogical strategies to integrate Information Communication Technology into classroom practice

  • a range of subsidised courses that assisted teachers to develop their Information Communication Technology skills and understand effective pedagogical strategies for integrating Information Communication Technology into their classroom practice.


  • The activity was managed by a designated officer who took responsibility for meeting the professional needs of teachers participating in the activity.

    Outcomes

    Through participation in an AGQTP project, teachers will have strengthened the currency and depth of their pedagogical knowledge and skills.

    Through participation in an AGQTP project, teachers will in their interactions with students, have an increased capacity to provide all students with opportunities to access and apply relevant learning in ICT.

    Design

    The professional learning strategy for this activity included:

  • school-based projects to engage teachers in workplace learning that is based on a cycle of continuous improvement model

  • onsite and offsite participation in knowledge building and skill sharing activities

  • participation in formal courses.


  • Participant feedback from teachers who attended the courses and participated in the action learning projects indicated that the broad scope of the project had provided quality information skills that had supported them implementing a broader range of Information Communication Technologies into their classroom practice.

    Implementation

    The implementation of the activity was supported by the following personnel: designated project officer and independent sector consultants.

    Delivery

    Workshops/courses, conference and resource development through school based projects.

    Timeline

    By May 2009:

  • all independent schools will have been offered the opportunity to participate in a school based action learning project and the successful teams will have commenced their project

  • Information Communication Technology workshops and individual school based professional support for those teachers participating in an action learning project will have been scheduled and partially delivered

  • progress report submitted in May.


  • By November 2009:
  • Information Communication Technology workshops and individual school based
  • professional support will have been completed
  • school based action learning projects will have been completed
