Description
This was a continuing activity and was intended to provide professional learning opportunities for both beginning and experienced teachers within the Quality Teaching Framework and the DEEWR priority area of ICT. Schools and associated collegial networks were invited to put forward projects. The Catholic Education Office, Lismore managed a number of similar projects. These ICT based projects were designed to connect teacher professional learning needs to organisational and professional learning plans and the NSW Institute of Teachers' professional teaching standards. Projects used a variety of methodologies and that utilise innovative professional development strategies at the local level.
The activity was managed by education officers who will take responsibility for the selection and monitoring of projects through to completion. Individual school project managers will take responsibility for the projects meeting the professional needs of participating teachers and the project reporting and evaluation. Schools were provided with a list of potential project opportunities.
This activity linked to national initiatives, particularly the Digital Education Revolution. Projects was designed to engage teachers in reflective workplace learning that is based on school and Diocesan priorities drawn from the strategic plan 2006-2009 in the area of ICT. Schools were invited to submit school-based projects that utilised collegial networks at a local and regional level. Workshops and other opportunities which enabled participants to have their work publicly celebrated and critiqued were a feature. The focus of each project was in the development of ICT skills and pedagogy related to the delivery of digital content.
Approved projects are aligned to meet the NSW Institute of Teachers' professional teaching standards. Innovative in-school professional development delivery strategies were promoted wherever possible.
