Learning experience:
Creative Arts - DramaChild protection education
Context:
The lesson in the COGs unit is linked to Child Protection. The Child Protection component was taught by the classroom teacher as they have a greater awareness of family background and situation of each child. This work sample explores the drama outcomes of the activity using facial expression and movement to express feelings. These children also worked on using voice to express feelings and explore character. During the lesson we worked through the process of how to use firstly facial expression, then body language and movement and further voice to express an emotion. The assessment observations were based on the children moving, without voice, to a given emotion and then on a signal freezing as a tableaux. They were then given “thinking time” to have a phrase ready as to what might be said using voice to express the emotion even further. If the children were tapped on the head they were to come to life and improvise their emotion adding voice and refreeze. A solo performance. The samples shown are based on the emotion of anger.
