LARK has been successful in providing a framework upon which schools can implement a whole school approach to literacy using the State Literacy Strategy materials.
Regional literacy teams support school teams by providing the knowledge and skills in the literacy area by school visits, staff development days, staff meetings, class visits. For this reason we are asking regions to nominate up to 4 schools (primary, secondary or collegiate) who would be suitable to participate in LARK Online in 2007.
The school will be given support from State and Regional Offices throughout the process. Each school team must be willing to participate in teleconferences, participate regularly in online discussions, attend a face-to-face workshop, implement their action plan and then prepare a learning portfolio to document their learning.
Nominated schools will:
- have identified literacy as a target in their annual school report and management plan
- have been identified or targeted for consultancy support in 2006 by your regional staff
- be prepared to use an action research based approach to whole school change
- have the structure and willingness to regularly access online discussions and teleconferences and attend a face to face workshop
- provide school professional learning funds to support the in-school implementation of this program.
